Guiding for large portions of the year gives one a greater understanding of game movements and an opportunity to find new and exciting lodges and camps to meet our high standards and expectations. This enables us to continuously monitor and upgrade what we offer our guests.

When customizing a safari it is imperative the safari suits your individual needs.  I am here to guide and help you find the best accommodation and experience that suits your personal requirements.

There is a huge variety of accommodations to choose from all with varying degrees of comfort. It is not my intention here to discuss the many accommodation options but rather give you a sense of some of the main features and some of the differences.

‘’Premier camps’’

Many of the best lodges and premier camps in Africa today are in stunning locations full of wildlife with 5star cuisine. Most of these accommodations are large spacious permanent structures which have swimming pools, gyms and compare favourably with some of the finest hotels.

‘’Bush camps’’

Bush camps or expedition camps as I like to call them are extremely popular intimate tented camps in remote locations teeming with wildlife. They are extremely comfortable and still have all the creature comforts such as flush toilets and dining areas and have a certain Hemingway charm about them. The cuisine is amazing and staff always warm and friendly.

“Luxuary mobile tented safari camps’’

Luxury mobile tented camps offer the most exclusive and private experience available with large and spacious insect-proof tents with toilet and shower en suite. These camps are moved prior to your arrival into the best game areas and National Parks. They are totally private so you do not share with anyone else. They offer a truly unique and exclusive wildlife experience.

Whether one chooses an upmarket lodge, expeditions camp, or mobile safari, I usually suggest or recommend visiting private concessions.

This is not always necessary; however, private concessions generally mean fewer guests — which then makes for a more intimate experience.
